An extremely amusing piece of propaganda, that made me laugh a fair bit, actually it was quite inspired and I found it a pleasing read, the art was also really nice, but the pitfall was in the game design, you can feel it's far from the original game and it sticks out a bit, if you are in for the joke or you actually believe this stuff you are in for a treat! but I suggest using it as flavour or making some mechanic changes here and there

I love this book. It added the last pieces of the puzzle to wrap my head around the way the Orlanthi view sex and gender. It makes in world sense yet is very different to how we in the modern day view these same questions.

An interesting take on what can be an awkward subject. I am not sure that I agree with all of the ideas contained in it (for example I put Minlister as a crafting God) but my Glorantha does vary! Overall, it is a purchase I would recomend.

Well-written and beautifully presented. Six Paths discusses gender, sex, and sexuality with nuance and care. What drew me most in this supplement is the integration of gender with the Orlanthi religion. Six Paths goes above-and-beyond other LGBT-advocacy publications by entwining its material with established lore of the setting. This is well-developed through a collection of short myths throughout the supplement. My favorite is the titular myth about the Six Paths, and how the Heortlings came to embrace gender identities in the model of their deities.

This work could use a slight proofread, but in general the text's polish is several steps above my imagination's "community content baseline," and I've read several "professional" publications which were less refined. Katrin Dirim's artwork - quickly becoming iconic in the Glorantha community - generously illustrates the work, and supplements this piece admirably.

If you aren't interested in using the topics of gender or sexuality in your game of RuneQuest, this book honestly doesn't have a lot to offer. That's not a complaint! Merely an observation for other customers. Even in that case, I do encourage you to consider picking up Six Paths anyway. At the creator's suggested price point, it's hard to lose out. I don't really anticipate bringing material from Six Paths to my game tables. Nonetheless it was a fascinating read. As a fellow creator on the Jonstown Compendium, I expect that Six Paths will earn its place dozens of times over in the "RuneQuest Reference" section of my bookshelves.

Ok after talking to the creative team this is a full edit and repointing of my original review.

I have adjusted my score from 1 to 4, I did consider scoring it a 3, but the book is essential very good, the artwork is excellent, and there are good ideas running through it. I'm not 100% behind this book, that one paragraph still annoys me, but knowing what the author is trying to get across has calmed my rage as it were.

I still have issues with the text of the one paragraph explaining if vindan and nandai are trans. I would prefere it to say yes they are (to the most part), but with differences to mordern trans people mainly because of being brought up the heortling culture. This would be a more inclusive statement and build upon peoples exisiting assumptions and relatable frames of refference. By saying they arent, (this still feels somewhat exclusionary) and then trying to explain what they are after removing any common ground the reader might have, is making more work and in this case I dont think enough space was given to explain what the author was trying to convey. This is where I saw a differnent way to interpret the words than the authour had intended...which lead to the book upsetting me enough to write the one star review.

As goes the two rune spells I have issue with, a small amout of flavour text justifying their place in the book and world would be all thats needed for that gripe to be brushed under the carpet.

Full disclosure: I am credited as a sensitivity reader on this book.

The Six Paths goes a long way towards opening up the space of possibilities implied by the six genders enumerated in the Runequest core book, and does so in a very charming and delightful way that's truly beautifully illustrated.

Very interesting content about myths, cults and the society of the Heortlings, and all gorgeously illustrated. One of the best ways to show why Glorantha is so unique.
