If you're like me and you've long been disappointed with the fact that weapons in D&D 5e are little more than the dice you roll, this is the resource for you. Introducing a whole pile of new weapons, armor, weapon properties, masterwork items, firearms, and skills - it's a great way to flesh out your game to be something more than deciding whether your d8 is a longsword or a battle axe.

I don't play without it these days, with all of my games utilizing the more detailed arms and equipment included.

I thoroughly recommend this title. Though it includes a lot of suggestions and mechanics that I wouldn't use in my games (I'm not a firearms person), it fills in a lot of gaps and gives players options for enhancements and modifications that help drive individual flavour for their characters. You have to pick and choose. There are risks that some of the modifiers involved skew the balance in encounters but you just have to tweak the encounter to increase the balance. So if you're using an encounter builder you would factor in the enhanced capacity of the characters in determining their opponents.

All round a winner. Great job.

This supplement is not bad, but this is not for me. It has a good number of useful things, but overall, in my opinion, this supplement's design doesn't follow the simplicity of the 5th Edition of D&D. It feels like it wants to bring back the complexity of the 3rd/3.5 Edition, with a multitude of weapons and rules' detail that simply don't fit in the game.

The armors and shields are fine. They fill the lacking spots of the armors in the book (for example, an AC 15 heavy armor, or an AC 12 light armor that gives disadvantage on Stealth).

For weapons, it introduces a variety of new keywords for weapons; for most of them you need to add bonuses to the special attacks (grapple, shove, disarm), which doesn't follow the design of 5E. Alternate is probably the best keyword here. It also adds a myriad of new weapons, most of them are plain useless or needless redesigns of existing weapons. The repeating crossbows and some other weapons are ok. The gear section is ok. It has some unneeded complexity, but here is easier to pick what is useful and what is not. The exotic lists are not for me, as it is heavy on that 3rd/3.5 Edition feeling.

The wealth guidelines are fine. The trinkets are ok as well. The magic items price/values table is the most useful part of the magic items section. The other tables (i. e. Who Created It...) are ok. The rest is, again, unnecessary complexity. The final part – investiments – mostly talks about a gray area of what players can do with their gold, which is hard to rate... but its not bad.

Overall, a 3 out of 5.

Every one of these tittles does contribute to the games of DM who want well written and tested rules for everything, such as me.

Comprehensive equipment gives me +200 hundred pages of illustrated weapons, armor, tools... for whenever a player complains about don't find in the manual what he is thinking about, plus some new cool mechanics. We can consider this the counterpart of the Monster Manual for equipment.

Comprehensive animal handling is just a new world of mechanics to handle this kind of companions. How they act, how can be trained, what they can do and how... animals stop being a stats-block in the grid and become fully interactive characters. It may be my favorite since in the basic rules they are... one page rule of mounts and an ability nobody uses.

Comprehensive wealth take the points in everything money-related. In basic rules they stop making sense when you get the point in which a resurrection spell costs you spare coins. Here you can build armies and warships, and the rules of armies combat just make sense.

Finally, I think Expanded Special Feature is a good narrative complement to give unique magic items with story and personality. No more “Here you have a +1 sword”.

I'm quite pleased with these supplements which will be used in my table. I'm looking forward new content from this author.

Really well thought out stuff here. I like having weapons with unique advantages from one another because, you know, weapons tend to do that. This is adds a layer of realism to your homebrew.

I thoroughly enjoy these books, but they do have a lot of content, so it may not be best for beginner DM to try and use them, they are more suited for those who are well versed in the core mechanics of 5E.

Each book has between 50 and 230 pages; this anthology contains a substantial amount of content and is defiantly worth investing in if you care to make your world feel like it has more depth and variety; the Equipment manual helps you fighters feel like all their weapon proficiencies mean something, the Wealth manual and Special Feature manuals help make your entire parties magic items seem more unique and gives them individual values, rather than all items of a given rarity being the same value. I personally haven't used the animal handling manual much yet, but from reading through it, it seems like it can be very useful depending on the campaign setting.

Each book has several sections, for example, the wealth manual includes content for buying land, investing in businesses, etc. These extra sections are a good way of increasing downtime activities for high level players who want something more interesting that going to the local pub. There is even a section on running a recruiting and running a military.

These manuals are well balanced and are compatible with most other DM's Guild content.

Overall 4/5

-Content: 5/5 - There is a lot here!

-Balance 4.5/5 - Pretty good, sometimes I make changes to fit my campaign.

-Ease of use 3/5 - It is easy enough to understand, but because there is so much it requires a lot of base knowledge, not recommended for beginners (unless you are a really fast reader as you will probably have to look thing up fairly often)

-Editing/ proofreading 4/5 - I occasionally find a wrong word, and 1 or 2 item's names are different between the text to the item chart, but nothing major and they never get in the way of understanding what is being said.

-Aesthetics 3/5- the artwork is pleasant but not incredible, some sections will go on for several pages of just text, so you may get a "too much text, cannot read" feeling when first looking at the books, I recommend only reading one or two sections at a time to help break this up.

Every once in a while, you run into those players who really like to have a hyper-realistic game, and even I as a DM sometimes struggle with knowing what to do with those kinds of players - cause they aren't the only ones who want that. Very often when players want to buy homes or invest in property or business or get a mount/pet, I am left hanging cause there aren't any mechanics for that. Well, what Randall Right has built with his Anthology: Comprehensive Equipment is fantastic.

My top two are the Comprehensive Wealth Manual and Animal Handling Manual - mainly because I have had so many more encounters with stalls in gameplay related to these two specific topics. The Wealth Manual not only covers issues of owning, buying, and selling properites/businesses/assests and the like - it also gets into building and establishing armies, and even develops a whole rule system to building and creating properties at your own pace. The Animal Handling Manual is chock full of excellent mechanics to help not only players but DMs as well. With chapters on managing animals as NPCs, mounts in combat, and also managing them in the party, it allows for the constant want to unique animal companions to flow and work easily.

The Comprehensive Equipment Manual covers all the bases for keeping a rigid and grounded equipment pool - with options for stuff beyond your basic rations and adventurer's gear: such as vehicles, firearms, and even working in cool concepts and ages like The Jade Throne or Metal Poor Apocalypse. And with the Expanded Special Feature Manual, it takes that small section from the DMG and turns it into a full-blow supplement with tons of awesome mechanics for building games, settings, and encounters: for instance the History tables to discern the how the history of a region/continent/item was created and/or is held.

Overall, what Randall has put together is a boon to all DMs and players who want to Nolanize their games and ground it in reality just enough to make it feel truly innovative and interesting.

Thoroughly enjoyed (and still enjoy) this great supplement! I constantly find reasons to reference it and have added it to my stack of must have books when I am involved in a campaign. The layout and design are wonderful, easy to find what you are looking for and the illustrations are top notch.

Anyone who wants to add variety and flair to a campaign should definitely add this one to their library, you won't be disappointed.

This collection is exactly what my party of "hyper-realistic" players wanted! So many carefully thought out tools to enrich the game.

I've got so many highlights all over my .pdf copy over many months perusing this supplement. It is definitely worth the investment!

I picked up the previous version; this book is excellent! Its become indispensible at my gaming table, comprehensive and fully extant, even alchemical substances, poisons, etc.; the best part, when it gets updated I get the update for free! Now, it does contain some optional rules for those of us who like our combat a bit more realistic, yet it keeps the simplicity of the 5e design philosophy. Some parts of it harken back to 1e, for example the complete list of polearms, and includes additional exotic weapons from settings like Eberron. As a veteran DM of 28 years, I full endorse this product. Now I need this to be available on POD.

Absolutely brilliant. Extremely comprehensive (as the title promises)! Just what I was looking to expand the armory and gear available to my players. So many areas covered! I was not looking for amazing, broken magic items but sensible stuff that could actually exist in the real world (mostly). This PDF fulfills that wish well for me. Slight changes made to existing and rules for new items seem sensible and logical and it's nice to see a PDF properly formatted too!

This is, hands down, the best suppement that has currently been produced for 5e. It answers so many questions and solves so many issues that is the official material. To say that it is well written or well thought out is an understatement. To put it simply if you are DM'ing 5e you need this supplement. Considering how superior this is to anything else that has been produced I'm sincerely surprised that Wizards hasn't contacted the wqriter to turn this into an official print product. Save yourself a ton of problems and get this book.

This is a very good supplement for the 5E, It's good to see a book like this come out where it is a very low magic item book but, a lot of very good material. Very pleased about this purchase and keeping my eyes open for future editions.

Wraith Wright Productions is not kidding with this title. A few pages are dedicated up front to talking about how to use the product and hints for the DM (and others). From there the lists of equipment begin, ranging from updated and expanded arms and armor, to the use of different materials and changes based on race or class. There is a lot of information here, broken up by the occasional small piece of art, which I really loved. The illustrations evoke an old school feeling to the work in both the color and black and white versions (a nice touch I think). The Comprehensive Equipment Manual is a must have for those who want more depth to combat and a bit more texture to the equipment they are using in their 5e game.

If you are a DM that does homebrew campaigns or a player who loves Homebrew Campaigns and is looking for a Gift for your DM than don't finish reading this review, just buy The Comprehensive Equipment Manual. This is more than just an expanded armory with neat weapons cool tools. It delves into currency and campaign altering ideas like Letters of Marque or constructing a Keep! Firearms, Polearms and non-European weapons are given a great overview.

There are also random tables on items of treasure with great plot and character hoods that satisfies any Old School Renaissance (OSR) yearnings or the newer Streamer Feeler Gamer (SFG). So if you are still reading this review thanks for doing so and go buy this!
