I DMed this story for a large group of middle schoolers, and they loved it. Kids being how kids are, this story spanned the course of 10 sessions, 2 1/2 hours each. There was enough information to really delve into each aspect of the story. Personally I wish that there was a little bit more information for NPCs like the ranger, but that's an easy fix with a little of creativity. The kiddos loved it and were really invested in the story, and I greatly enjoyed running it for them.

Great little adventure...I love how the adventurers get sucked into the dragon's scheme of getting them to come to him! I modified it for higher level characters and made it fit very well into one of my player's desire to befriend a wyrmling or young dragon in hopes to have it join the party as an NPC....(didn't work out so well for that player, as I made the dragon BLACK chromatic... but the writer leaves a great ending for potentially more depth to this part of the storyline...) For five 5-7 level characters, the NPC's in my buffed up version of this adventure can get quite menacing!!

I would ask that future purchasers get the map for the ATTACK ON BLACK MOUNTAIN portion. Had to make my own, but the descriptions made it rather easy.

Can't beat the price! I got it for free, and had a great time all around with it. BTW, it took MUCH more than four hours with my buffed up version. Did I mention I really liked this little quest?

My players absolutely loved the adventure! I ran it as a small mini campaign for them, which worked out great!

Really fun adventure, ran it with 7 level 2 players, so I had to tweak it here and there and ofcourse took quite a long time to play. 6 of the players were first time players and they loved it! It had all of the elements needed for understanding the essence of D&D. They did pick up the cursed sword, any ideas how to make it a bit more cursed in followeing adventures? So that they understand that cursed things have consequenses.

I downloaded this adventure as a first adventure for me (my first DM experience) and my 2 girls (their first D&D adventure). We loved it! I forgot to scale it down a bit for 2 players, and my 2 PCs got beaten by the swarms of rats in the tavern. I had the innkeeper jab the PCs for this throughout the game. Every time they made some progress, they returned to the tavern to make sure the innkeeper knew of theie exploits :)

A good adventure to introduce new players to D&D. The dragon however is a bit overpowered and will decimate the party if you don't tweak a few things. Overall, it was pretty solid.

perfect for a first time Dm or first time party! its well paced with plenty of room to rp and never a dull moment if you have a fun group of people, be prepared for your party trying to convice the mimic to join the group tho!

So my players got to the mimic in the tavern, got in a fight, and all three of them wanted to romance it and rolled a 20, 15 and 17. So now they are they are in a romantic relationship with this mimic and it's pretty great. They keep fighting over who it will be with, they buy it flowers, give it they loot from quests.

I used this adventure for a group of teens who are new to D&D. Their review is that they wanted more plot. I had already taken out a lot of the combat, it is a combat heavy campaign. It would have benefited greatly from maps, even if it was sketched out. Overall, it's an okay campaign.

This made a great starting adventure for both me, as a relatively new DM, and for my party. The main enemies are Kobolds, which are relatively easy to kill, but have knocked a couple of my PCs out already. No one has died, although we haven't yet reached the dragon (we've been taking it a little slow to role play and let the players and characters get to know each other).

I slotted it into a Princes of the Apocalypse campaign by sending a Foxdale scout to ask his sister for help finding heroes who may have frequented the Swinging Sword, her pub. This gave me lots of time to get a handle on the main campaign while still putting something in front of the players. Meaning this was a perfect way to get started.

Pretty decent plot and full of classic tropes that make it a surprisingly good starting adventure. My only changes would be to increase the reward for killing the dragon (100 gp is a joke for such a task) and include a map to the fort in the PDF (but those are easily found online so it's not a big deal).

Played this with my group of 4 who had never played D&D before. It's a great introductory adventure and the players loved it. A few things were changed for timing and flavor, but overall the story itself was fun to run through. Good job!
