Looks: The art is simple, but good. Liked a lot the layout and format of the book, keeps it easy and quick to read and find stuff.

Writing: The writing is good, it shows the FATE system very well and it has nice explanations.

Content: Now, I think this is the best Sci-Fi FATE implementation out there. The organization of the book is very good, the FATE system rules are well presented and all the sic-fi stuff is pretty nicely done. It has some standard species (or races) and a great ruleset and guideline to create your own races, also I really like the way they incorporate races into the FATE system. Most parts of the contents includes guidelines to creating your own stuff with some really nice rules. You can create starships, weapons, species and stunts that match your scenario with ease and not worry about them being unbalanced. It also has some rules to work as a crew on your spaceship, you assign positions and responsibilities for the crew members and they act different in space combat, for example.

Awesome book! When I'm creating my own FATE games and settings I mostly use this book as a reference.

Looks: The book art, layout and design is very good! It has some nice different pictures. Really like the "bestiary" art.

Writing: Writing is superb, very clear and intuitive. Really well written.

Content: I have to say that I'm a fan of the One Roll Engine. I'm not going to talk much about the system, you can get a glimpse of the One Roll Engine on the free Nemesis RPG over the web or the Godlike Quick Play here on DriveThruRPG, but Reign makes it even better with some tweaks and additions like rules for Spells and the awesome rules for Companies (which you use to easily manage and control organizations, countries, guilds and the like). The Reign Setting is also pretty good, it's not your default Tolkien/D&D fantasy setting (which for me it's a plus), it has some nice new ideas to it which makes it a nice reading.

Totally worth it! Also, the designer released a lot of small supplements, tools, settings, additional stuff and some very cool things and compiled them into 3 really well done free PDFs over at his website.

Obs: Just as a note, there is another version of this book called Reign Enchiridion (which is also available for purchase here on DriveThruRPG). It's almost the same book, but without the chapters and information regarding the Reign Setting, which is good if you want to just use the system to create your own worlds, and it also includes the contents of the supplements I mentioned.

The One Ring™: Adventures over the Edge of the Wild 2011 Edition

Awesome! This RPG captures the essence of the Tolkien world. The system uses some asymmetrical rules, but at the same time is elegant, simple, balanced and easy for the Loremaster to run. The rules makes sense with the theme, just imagine the books and the movies when reading the rules and you will know what I mean. This set of books covers a limited number of years, regions and cultures, with other books coming to expand the setting to other years, regions and cultures of Middle-Earth.

It has some nice little systems for social encounters, journeys, money and treasure management. The art is pretty nice and it has an awesome fatigue, encumbrance, endurance and wound system that I think is a huge plus to this game.

The only downside(and this happens with a lot of RPGs) is the organization, some rules are written on both books(the same rule split with paragraphs for the Loremaster in one book and paragraphs for the Adventurer on the other book), making it harder to find some clarifications you thought it was in one book, but it was on the other. Also, there are some other little things that in my opinion are in the wrong place(like the Equipments table is in the character creation session, but the equipments description and rules explanations are in another chapter, without the table).

But aside from this small flaw(which doesn't impact the theme and how the game works together), this book is a must buy if you want a well designed Tolkien RPG! Already played it with my group and everybody loved it!
