Dollar for dollar, this might be the single best written adventure on DMs Guild (and there are a lot of very talented adventure writers here). Not only does is present an inventive setting, some exciting new character options, thoughtfully written NPCs, and one hell of a fun story (both to read and to play), this adventure is so DM-friendly it hurts.

The most noteable manifestation of this is a game-changing "choose your own adventure" style layout that makes navigating the twisting plot of the adventure an absolute breeze mid-game and makes everything run so smoothly. On top of that, there's a bunch of little touches that makes the DMs life easier, as well as helping the adventure come to life when brought to the table. For example, each section has a quick and easy "encounter highlights" set of bullet points at the start which means that you don't miss some plot-essential element while running each encounter. It's a small touch, but one I'm surprised isn't included in other published adventures. There's also an appendix of random NPCs to populate the city with (that I actually printed out and just put in my DM binder, because it's useful no matter what adventure you're running).

Also, as an Eberron DM, the conversion guide in the back is just perfect. Note to you Eberron players: This is secretly one of the best Eberron advenures out there, full stop.

I seriously could go on and on with praise for this adventure, but I'll leave it with this: Buy this book, you won't be disappointed. Even if you don't get the chance to run it, I guarantee that you'll find something here - be it the character options or NPC write-ups or novel presentation - that will make it worth your money.

Absolutely Essential

If you run an high-adventure game (success by the skin of your teeth, catastrophic failure leading to new wrinkles in the story, daring victories in impossible ways, that sort of stuff), then this supliment is a go-to. I run an Eberron game with a lot of homebrew rules, and this is one of only 2 suppliments I actually paid to print out, because I reference it that often during each session.

This makes D&D feel less binary (pass-fail) and a whole lot more dynamic. I use it along with skill challenges, and my players often have more fun rolling skill checks now than fighting monsters.

This was a great, light little adventure that fit perfectly into my Eberron campaign between big dungeon crawls. Players loved it.

The best thing, though, is the layout and graphic design! I've never known that I needed better graphic design in my adventures until now. The way it's laid out made navigating it smooth during the session and kept the breezy tone going. Awesome.

Great way to introduce the Dreaming Dark into my campaign! All my players are Eberron newbies and this really piqued their interest for future adventures.
