Frontiers of Space

ADD TO WISHLIST >
Suggested Price $2.00

Out in the deepest regions of space humanity has begun colonizing worlds. These regions of space are wild and untamed. Alien species control many of these worlds and have their own ambitions. Pirates operate with impunity. There is no empire to control the space lanes. Worlds fight amongst themselves for control of small regions of space. For adventurous souls this wild frontier is a place to carve one's own fortune out of the chaos. For weaker souls this frontier is a nightmare.

This sector of space is created for use with the Cepheus Engine line of products.

Nice little supplement. What did you use for the subsector maps?

TBH I do not remember. There is a nice subsector map in Campaign Cartographer that I had intended to use but I could never get it to work right. I found a couple of great ones on the web that will allow you to make sub-sectors including one made by the same people who publish CE (I think). If I ever make a new map I would probably use theirs because it looks a great deal like the one in CC3+ only theirs seems to work.....

The artwork was not actually done be me. Both of the images were from a stock photo site called depositphotos. I selected images that I thought were appropriate to the frontiers of space theme. I actually have a fairly good collection of similar images I intend to use with other products as I go. I have a couple of adventures in mind that go with this particular sector but could easily be imported to some other part of space as needed. This was my first CE project but I plan on a great deal more. Thanks for the comments.

Hey I'm liking it nice Traveller sector I like that you use the classic symbology for the sector Maps very nice ideas on the individual world's I thought your cover art was fantastic looks like height field random with some judicious use of textures and the Two Worlds.

I'm interested to know what program you used to do the cover the Backpage I wasn't really impressed with but I thought overall it was organized and very clean.

Just noticed your question here. I think I just used stock images for the front and back page. Depositphotos had a lot of great sci fi images and I bought a great deal of them for one bulk price and have been using them in my CE products. There are also a lot of great images that come out on the public domain sites from time to time. I scour those every month looking for both images and ideas.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
