Fun little product, but very light on content. Get it if you are a fan of Wizard of Oz, but that is about it. Would have liked to see more information on how to use her in various games (Fantasy, Modern or other).

What a great idea! I am a big fan of both the Oz books and of D20, so this was a perfect supplement for me. That said, there's much room for improvement here. There's little to no guidance on running an Oz-themed game, and practically nothing is directly addressed other than a strict translation of the characters and encounters in the book.

Of course, Glinda of Oz itself is a fun, fun novel and is easily worth the price of admission just to read. (Although you can probably find it free somewhere on the net.)

LIKED: Terrific concept, good work on the translation.

DISLIKED: This product screams out for the use of hyperlinks connecting the Glinda text to the game material (and vice versa), and Oz is in desperate need of a full write-up including discussions of tones, themes and history. This product doesn't provide any of that.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
Well, I like the concept of this product better than its implementation. What you get is the complete text of Baum's novel, with sidebars that translate certain characters, creatures, and (mostly) magical items into d20 terms. I think that more could have been done to more fully realize Oz as a d20 setting within the frame of this book. There is some good artwork here, but really only a couple of characters and creatures and a handful of magic items. More crunch, more stats, and even things like maps and drawings of the items statted would have improved this product. I'd love to see more in this line, if meatier.

LIKED: The confluence of d20 and Oz.

DISLIKED: Not enough crunch.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
Not exactly what I was expecting, but I could see how some people would like it. I guess I'm more meat and potatoes, but if you like quiche then this is the book for you.

QUALITY: Disappointing

VALUE: Disappointed
I'm sorry it wasn't what you were expecting. However, I'm not sure how you could have developed a false expectation about the content. Glinda of Oz is listed in the E-book section of RPGnow, rather than the d20 section because it is primarily an e-book, not a gaming supplement. The first sentence of the advertisement states that it is the original story written by Frank Baum with some d20 content added. The advertising text states exactly what is in the book. Also, the demo clearly shows that it is the full story as written by Baum with some d20 stats added for Glinda, the Spider King, and a few magic items. So I'm not sure what could have caused you to expect more. If you would like a more "crunchy" Oz book, please check back with us in a few months. We have a project like that in the works right now. Again, I apologize for any misunderstanding about the content. I?ll add a little more information to the product description to make it clear that Glinda of Oz is a short novel (edited to read like a DnD novel) with a few pages of d20 game statistics covering the major characters and items in the story. I hope no one else has any misunderstandings about the content of this e-book.

I would definitely buy another product like this. I have long been a fan of the film adaptation of the Wizard of Oz but had never read any of the books. Glinda of Oz was a fun read, brimming with wild ideas suitable for ripping off, assuming your D&D campaign isn't too grim or gritty.

LIKED: Fabulous product concept. The OGL and public domain fantasy fiction go together like chocolate and peanut butter.

Excellent layout. Black text on light green background was very easy on the eyes.

The expansion of the Aid Another rules for team spellcasting was simply and cunningly executed. The brief sidebar explaining this concept may be worth the price of this product all by itself.

DISLIKED: A few minor glitches in the text: a couple of extra line returns, at least one missing word, and some of the lowercase i's and j' looked rather odd.

More characters and items could have been statted out, particular Red Reera and her clawed spiders.

The boob-erific illustrations seemed a bit out of place with a classic children's story.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
