Trial of the Underkeep
by John S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/27/2013 20:34:36

It is a good story that I am looking forward to playing. The art is fantastic! There are a few places where the text and the background mingle a little too much, leaving the words illegible. You can still fill in the blanks, but that is the only down side to this module. Absolutely worth the purchase!

Trial of the Underkeep
by Balican B. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/15/2012 12:06:13

The adventure itself is really well done, and fit what I was looking for perfectly. A scary adventure with some horror-elements that aren't over the top, just adding to the vibe. It'd fit perfectly into the old Ravenloft setting in both feel and character. It's by far the best independent adventure I've bought.

The main problems with the pdf come from the color scheme used. It's quite impossible to read some things, and maps are way too dark so it's hard to make sense of. The numbering on the pages might also as well not be present.

The artwork itself is really good tho.

All in all, a recommended purchase. With some editing, it could become a 5 star product.

Trial of the Underkeep

This gem of an adventure has a real "old school" feel (in terms of ambiance, it really reminds me of the adventure at the back of the old Palladium Fantasy 1e RPG), but boasts some of the best production values I've ever seen in an adventure module. The artwork is especially noteworthy - it's absolutely gorgeous (quite possibly the best I've ever seen in an RPG book).

Despite some minor editing gaffes, the adventure is made of pure win. The book is laid out to actually be used at the table (this necessitates repeating some stat blocks, but this also minimizes page flipping), the author makes expert use of skill challenges, and encounters are almost exclusively solos (designed to keep the adventure moving along at a fast pace by ensuring that combats don't drag on forever).

I don't play 4e anymore, but I am absolutely satisfied with my purchase of Trial of the Underkeep.

The Devious Book of Fumbles & Crits
by NB N. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 04/10/2011 19:20:55

This is a fun catch all supplement. Yeah, it has fumbles and crits specific for specific classes, monsters, etc., but also has treasures, traps, and hazards. I like the specific types of crits and fumbles. It adds a significant amount of flavor backed up by mechanics to your battles. Of course, you may not want to use these EVERY time or else your players may live or die by the extremes, but I do like throwing them in for dramatic effect as suggested by the book. This is a lot of book for $9 and I assure you, it's worth the money as it is dense with crunch and fluff.
