The World of Aruneus - Contagion Infected Zombies 2.0 [PFRPG]
by Erathoniel W. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 02/16/2011 18:12:10

Really now, there's not much to say about this. It's Troll in the Corner, Aruneus zombie goodness.

Basically if you wanna have horror/action-movie styled zombies in your Pathfinder, get this. It's short, simple, and awesome, and priced well to boot.

Mi Gato se Incendia! (My Cat is on Fire!)
by Ron T. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 02/06/2011 14:53:16

Mi Gato se Incendia is a fun little game for 2 to 6 players.

There are 18 pages of cards to print out (double sided) plus a 1 page game board and 8 pages of instructions.

I printed out the game board and the cards, leaving the instructions as a PDF.

The game is fairly simple. The object is to recapture an escaped cat. Players have a hand of cards, which they can use to move, take actions like capturing the cat or using catnip to lure it closer, or play a 'fail' card to foil another player's attempt to do any of the above.

After each turn ends, the player draw an event card which causes one of several things to happen. Either Mi Gato moves, loses a life, or loses a life and catches on fire.

The game itself goes fairly quickly. We played twice, the first game lasting about 45 minutes, the second game lasting just over a half hour.

The cards are funny, line up nicely when I printed them and are sized to fit on Avery business cards. We didn't have any Avery card stock, so printed them out on plain white paper, which was a bit harder to shuffle but still quite servicable.

The instructions are layed out well and are lots of fun to read.

The price, at $1.99 is really good. I figure it cost me another $1 in printing costs. The instructions call for using tokens to track the cat's life and also the players and the cat itself. Designs for these tokens are not included in this game.

The World of Aruneus - Contagion Infected Zombies [PFRPG]
by William W. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 01/30/2011 13:27:03

If you have been considering adding contagious zombies to your Pathfinder or D&D 3.x game, this may be the PDF for you. Includes rules for making head shots (a crucial skill when fighting zombies), three new zombie-killing Feats, and a new potion. This PDF is part of the World of Aruneus campaign setting, but can be used with any other Pathfinder/D&D 3.x setting.

Troll in the Corner's Retro-gaming, Actual Play! Palladium Fantasy RPG (1st edition)
by Ivor C. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 01/15/2011 16:44:12

It does not matter if you have used the PALLADIUM Fantasy Role playing system or not. The previous events of the adventure could have been given with a bit more detail. That aside, I thoroughly enjoyed the episode. Very funny, I look forward to more episodes of the same. Give yourself a treat, download this today.

Troll in the Corner's Retro-gaming, Actual Play! Palladium Fantasy RPG (1st edition)
by Ron T. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/13/2010 13:56:05

While this isn't the best produced or editing podcast I've every heard, it is one of the funniest. The folks doing the actual gaming are having a great time. A few times I've gotten strange looks from others at work while I laugh away listening to this.

The game is Palladium Fantasy RPG, using the 1st edition rules that came out in the mid 80s. I remember this game, so perhaps nostalgia is playing it's hand here in my review. The rules were not always as clear cut as modern systems, and it was a lot less mechanical.

In fact, the podcast opens with a friendly argument about to hit rolls and armor ratings, punctuated by one of them yelling "Kevin Simbieda is never wrong!"

They party handles most of the combats in a unique way, by disabling all of the heavy hitters in the party and leaving the bad guys standing and scratching their heads. Then the party gets handily and hilariously defeated by a river.

In their defense, they are all first level.

Again, not the best actual play I've ever heard (Penny Arcade gets that hands down) but entertaining! It clocks in at over 2 hours long, but I have lots of time to listen, so this doesn't bother me.

Troll in the Corner's Guide to the Pathfinder Combat Round [PFRPG]
by James M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/23/2010 23:10:35

I'm happy with this. It's short and to the point, and is easy enough to follow.

This will make our demo games a little faster.

Troll in the Corner's Guide to the Pathfinder Combat Round [PFRPG]
by Andrew M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 11/22/2010 00:08:23

Pretty good but I don't think it's good for a complete noob. You have an AoO chart but that doesn't tell you what that is which is basically: A free attack one person gets on another when that second person does something to leave themselves open in combat.

Also there are no grapple rules outside the very basic and the 5-foot step is only mentioned in passing.

Very helpful - I was about to make one of my own, but this one was done much better. It'll be especially helpful for new players. Suggestion: Put the OGL license stuff entirely on one page, so it doesn't waste ink and space on the pages I'll actually be using.

For a joke product, it's actually a fairly useful item and encounter idea.

Fool's Gold (Cursed Item) [PFRPG]
by Ron T. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 07/26/2010 12:15:27

What a fun, free cursed item!

My party ran in to 10 of these coins. I set their value at 100GP per coin, which was very attractive to my mostly 3rd level party. At first they were very confused as to why their rogue was getting all of these successes but failing to do what she had succeeded at.

Finally, they sensed magic items and found that the rogue had secretly stolen all 10 coins! When they puzzled out how they worked they had a lot of fun purchasing a few items from a grumpy store keep with them in the hopes that they would foul him up.

The Best of Troll in the Corner Vol. 1
by Erathoniel W. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 06/30/2010 16:54:22

This is a pretty nice insight into gaming, and it has interesting interviews. It's definitely worth a read, so pick it up.

I'm kinda at a loss as to what to write, since I've been doing a lot of writing just now, and my brain's hurting.

Basically, read interviews with the makers of Twilight:2013, and enjoy a ton of interesting content in a well-formatted file.

Troll in the Corner's Magical Emporium: Masks of Magic & More! [PFRPG]
by Erathoniel W. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 06/22/2010 21:53:57

Unique, but overpowered.

While interesting and fun for players, these items are a major pain to a GM, being either too powerful or too outlandish to incorporate easily. While it would be good in a perfect world with perfect players, it just lacks the ability to be used with irresponsible players.

It's good, but it's just too risky for me to put any of this into a game, because I know that my munchkin will abuse it.

Troll in the Corner's Magical Emporium: Mirkmoot's Magical Accouterments for Creatures Small and Great [PFRPG]
by Erathoniel W. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 06/22/2010 20:50:40

There's one thing that I love about Troll in the Corner: They're unique. They write quirky, interesting stuff, with actual serious gameplay.

Standard d20 equipment, above average writing.

Sometime I have to finish reading Shadowrun: Germany, so I'll make this quick.

Like all Troll in the Corner products (I swear they don't pay me to kiss up, these are my genuine thoughts) that I have read, this is interesting and unique. While Aruneus has zombies, grimness, and a new take on orcs, this has a ton of humor. It's almost impossible to read this straight faced.

I. Like. This.

It's priced to sell, and it's worth the investment. And with a word like "Unengoblinatin" in it, it has to be good.

Troll in the Corner's Magical Emporium: Spring Sale [PFRPG]
by Erathoniel W. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 06/22/2010 20:40:45

On one hand, this is pretty plain in terms of gameplay. However, the background and premise of these are great, at least in the fact that they're creative.

While not a powergamer's favorite thing, these items give an unique twist to game play, and even though they may not be the player's assets, they are interesting and fun.

Hey, they're free, they've got decent art (though I'll gripe about not soft brush erasing the edges, like I always do), even though it looks suspiciously auto-rotographed.

Have fun with these, they're worth a read.

The World of Aruneus - Contagion Infected Zombies [PFRPG]
by Erathoniel W. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 06/22/2010 20:34:22

Rules for a zombie apocalypse in standard d20/Pathfinder?

Awesome.

Troll in the Corner saw fit to give me a copy of this (I don't think a review copy either, I think just a free copy out of the goodness of their hearts), and I'm glad they did. It's awesome!

Standard gripes apply: Soften the edges of your in-text images, anyone? Just use the GIMP, edit-_select all, edit-_stroke selection, eraser with soft brush? Is it that hard?

And that's it. Have fun, and get this. It's priced at a great rate.
