Serial Killer (audio product)

Run! All you can do is run. But no matter how quickly you move your feet, the killer is always a few short step behind. You panic, but he is calm. You pant, but he breaths steady breaths which ring hollow on the chill air. You scream, but he is silent. His only sound is the steady tread of boots and the drawing of a sharpened blade. Through the backwoods, the city streets, or the comforting confines of suburbia, he will pursue you. The voices in his head and the chaos in his soul will allow him to do nothing else... Electric guitar-driven, insane heavy metal.

Music by Mike Trapp; Illustration by Steffen Eriksen Haneboe.

Sonic Legends soundscapes are a blend of music and sound effects specially designed to enhance tabletop and live-action roleplaying games. The music provides an emotive backdrop that helps your players get into the right mood, and the sound effects give you a realistic sonic environment to set your scene in. Each soundscape is approximately eight to ten minutes in length, and shifts to naturally follow a dramatic storyline. The best part is that each soundscape is seamlessly loopable, so there's no limit to how long your scene has to be! Just download your Sonic Legends soundscape to your mp3 player or laptop, turn up your speakers and GAME ON!

Can a soundscape be schizophrenic? If so, this one might qualify. For about the first four minutes, composer Mike Trapp offers us a driving rhythm propelled forward by electric guitars and deep bass. Then, as if the titular serial killer has come to hi [...]

This is mostly a guitar heavy rock sounding track with some vibraslap thrown in for good measure. Overall, I'd say it's more appropriate if the serial killer in question is more aggressive and patrolling the streets for victims. It doesn't really sugge [...]

Cool, evocative, and sinister. I like the track a lot and think the title fits it pretty well. It would work well for a modern crime or horror game, as well as spooky sci-fi game. I also think it would be a cool track to use for something along the lin [...]

A nice, mildly disturbing song with distressed voices. This could easily go in the background of any scene where the players are up against an unknown killer. Some parts are louder than others and, while that works as music, it could break concentratio [...]

Featuring oddly dissonant voices and a nicely distorted guitar, this music is good for a modern campaign, particularly when the characters are heading into a troublesome encounter, or searching room to room for, say, a serial killer. At one point &quot [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
