If you've ever wondered what goes on in your cats' heads, giggled through a Bunnicula book, or enjoyed the puns of Piers Anthony, you might like to meet the Outcats.

In “Invaders from Mars” the Outcats have two new visitors.  Are they extraterrestrials here to abduct the Outcats?

3900 words (16 print pages)

Available in pdf, mobi, and epub formats

Here's what people are saying (I’m a people.):

“It’s like Seinfeld with cats. There’s no plot, just a bunch of random events and jokes.” – J. Kirby

“I’m allergic to cats and just reading this made my throat swell shut.” – John K.

“I’m confused. So can the humans understand them or not?” – J. Paul Kirby

“I keep getting migraines every time I read one of those stories. Is there some connection?” – John P. Kirby

“For some reason there seems to be an overabundance of ‘Escape from New York’ and ‘Gilligan’s Island’ references in the stories.” – JP Kirby

“I laughed so hard I think I gave myself a hernia.” – JPK

Here's a little excerpt from #2 Invaders from Mars:

“Eggs.  That’s nasty.  And you eat them raw.”  Cleo made a face like she just swallowed a gallon of pickle juice.

“That’s how I keep my coat so youthful and shiny,” Gabby said.  “That way the aliens won’t abduct me.”

“I think they already abducted your brain and switched it with a fuzzy jingle ball.”

“And that’s why they’ll take you first,” Gabby said snidely, sticking her nose in the air.

“How’s that?”

“You’re rude.  They always go after the rude ones first.  Then the prima donnas.  And finally the shallow.”

“And keeping your coat shiny protects you how?”

“I don’t know.  It just does.  Maybe it reflects their sensors.  It’s like asking why ghosts don’t eat mayonnaise on a stick.  They just don’t and there’s no explanation for it.”

“Whew, you are exasperating.  Mice are myths, but aliens and ghosts are real.”

“Precisely.  There may be hope for you yet.  Provided you aren’t abducted first.”

“If it gets me away from you, I’m all for it.”

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
