As the modern kingdom of Rome teeters on the brink of collapse, a bold voice emerges to challenge the corrupt democratic establishment. Julious Lionhouse, a man of royal blood, steps into the senate's debate floor with a mission to reclaim the nation’s lost glory. His fiery speech and subsequent coup mark the beginning of a brutal civil war, one that pits monarchists against revolutionaries, capitalists, and common folk alike.

In a nation fraught with political decay, Julious’s declaration sends shockwaves across Rome. As senators fall to the blades of his guards, Marcus House, one of the nation's wealthiest men, seizes the chaos as an opportunity for profit and power. Meanwhile, the idealistic but dangerous Leonardo Scarletwall rallies his socialist revolutionaries to counter Julious’s bid for the throne.

From the bustling city centers to the drought-stricken farmlands, the story of Rome unfolds through the eyes of diverse characters. Braun, a weary farmer, must prepare his family for the turmoil ahead, while grappling with an unexpected alliance with Marcus. Each character faces their own trials and moral dilemmas as the war engulfs the nation, challenging their beliefs and survival instincts.

"Divine Providence" is a gripping tale of power, ideology, and resilience. In a world where democracy has faltered, old loyalties are tested and new alliances are forged in the crucible of conflict. As Rome's fate hangs in the balance, the quest for power threatens to consume all, leaving only the most cunning, brave, and resourceful standing.

Immerse yourself in a story where every decision can tip the scales of fate, and where the destiny of a kingdom lies in the hands of a few. Will Rome rise from the ashes to reclaim its former glory, or will it fall into an abyss of tyranny and chaos? Discover the answer in "Divine Providence."

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
