Welcome travellers, to the second issue of Fanatical.

These pages feature more tales from the tabletop, those stories that worm their ways inside our brain after playing a game of imagination,
whether it be a roleplaying game, a wargame or board game.

Come meet some roguish space dwarfs, the most interesting cat you’ll ever meet, a befuddled adventuring party and a gunsliging hunter of the
most foul.

Thanks go out to the authors and artists that made Fanatical possible, and to those that supported us behind the scenes.

If this little book of wonders piqued your curiousity and grabbed your interest, why not delve deeper into what we’re about, and help spread
the word.

Featuring the following tales from the tabletop...

Scrap 'n' Salvage by Nicholas Whitney - A crew of space dwarfs run into problems when salvage a special score, a crashed Imperial transport.

“Sir, I got one of them.” he said, waiting for Ironclaw to give the order. As he breathed out one last time to ready his shot, he reflexively opened his other eye, the one not to his rifle's scope, and caught a glimpse of something else.

The Cat Burglar by Alice Avoy - A young goblin lad breaks into somewhere he shouldn't, only to find the most unusual potentail partner.

A black cat sauntered from behind one of the bookcases like a furry ball of void… “Phew, it’s just a cat,” said Sean, hand splayed over his racing heart. “How rude. There’s nothing ‘just’ about me,” the cat replied.

The Witch's Tree by C Lenz - A viking warrior band head into the forest, destined to face off against the darkness and darker secrets.

Generations ago, when their village had sent out their best warriors to deal with the thing in the woods, none of them had survived. Most of the dead were found scattered around the oak sapling. But they had somehow been victorious. No one disappeared anymore. Nothing had stalked the villagers through the woods. At least, not until recently.

Prisoners of Correl by CM Lowry - An unlikely group (or maybe too likely?) find themselves tossed in a cell at the pleasure of the local planetaty government. What will they do next?

"Sorry, let me just get this straight", interjected Virt. "You two were arrested for fighting each other, and someone decided to put you in the same cell?!"

The Simple Things by K.M. Thomas - An adventuring party discover they've lost something in the midst of a quest gone awry.

Broken tables, smashed barrels, and shards of glass suggested the remains of a tavern. Its distance from a mist-bound town to the north suggested disreputability. Its complete destruction foretold a trying day.

It Came From Salem by Andrew Hughes - A gunslinger makes his way across the weird west in search of a quarry most foul.

But it was too late. The girl had already rounded the fire, her arms outstretched when it opened its eyes to reveal pits of blackness. Annabelle stumbled backward, but her corrupted mother lunged at her. Jack took aim.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
