Feudball: Feudal Football

Alexander Bathgate's life just couldn't get any better. He lived in the picturesque city of Puerto Bella, had a steady job working as an accountant for a logging firm, and a girlfriend as well. There was only one problem – he was bored. To spice things up, he decided to undertake a little creative bookkeeping. Unfortunately he wasn't creative enough and was caught and sentenced to ten years hard labour at an infamous penal colony. Within a couple of months, he finds himself getting a crash course in piracy, an abbreviated tour of the indies, then transported back to the motherland, Brython, to spend the rest of his sentence at the notorious Flagstaff Prison. However, the fun really begins when he's picked to join the prison feudball team...

Feudball: Feudal Football was inspired by movies such as The Longest Yard, Rollerball and Salute of the Jugger, and years of various table-top gaming activities. It is a fantasy football game, a violent, combative game where lives are ruined and lost, and reputations earned and sullied. It is also a business, where fortunes can easily be made and quickly lost as well.
The setting for the story is a world that is at the dawn of an industrial era, with humans the dominant race on a planet that they have to share with many other sentient races. There are urban sprawls and villages, white and blue-collared workers, and haves and have-nots as well. Magic has not been completely lost to this world. Harnessed correctly it is utilized in a number of ways, especially in the field of communications. Religion is organized, but there are still plenty of those that stick to the old ways.
Feudball: Feudal Football is the first book of a three part series.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
