Moon Elves

Sourcebook for the race called Children of the Moon by some, or Elves by those who are less poetic.
Written By: the Dark Quest Games team
Page Count: 101 pages
Cover Art by: Kallen
Illustrated by: Owen Kuhn, Claudio Pozas, Gillian Pearce

What do you really know of elves? Misconception may be shattered and mysteries revealed. Gone are the stereotypes of the stalwart woodland defender or the dwarf hating elven warrior, and to stand before you in the background to explain sterotypes or disprove them. The Moon Elves are coming and with them they bring a whole new look at this fascinating race. This is a culture book features an in-depth look at the Elves; these are elves that are unlike any that you will meet. This is a highly detailed book that covers all aspects of this elven society and brings with it a host of features.

It is illustrated by some of fantasy roleplaying's rising stars (Claudio Pozas, Gillian Pearce, and Owen Kuhn), featuring detailed drawings and some crisp color work. The work of Moon Elves is a combination of talented writers who have been immersed in Fantasy for quite some time.

Inside the book you will find a completely detailed look at the fascinating culture of the elves, from their mental state, to their various rituals for marriage, birth, death and how they deal with time. Throughout this book you will also find that there are stories and comprehensive journals written from their point of view.

For those that are hungry for something different - there are many new prestige classes such as the elven carouser, an elf who knows how to party and works the circuit like a harpist plays a harp. The sword singer: an elf who combines song and blade into a deadly form of combat. Alongside these classes is a range of interesting and unique magical items designed by the twisted imaginations of the Dark Quest writers. You'll see the elven shimmerleaf armor and learn the power of the Bow of Stars. Be immersed in the backgrounds as well as the generous descriptions of all the items - those items that are unique to warrant stories of their creation are often also wreathed in sadness, betrayal and history.

Moon Elves the title refers not to a subspecies of elves, but the whole of its kind. They are the dwellers in both sunlight and moonlight. While Sun Elves may bask in the sunlight, ever elf draws upon the wisdom of the moon.

If you've ever loved Elves.. or loved to hate elves in all their variety then this is the book to view.

This is a sourcebook describing a variant version of the standard d20 elf. (I'm not sure where the title comes from, incidentally, as they are never referred to as "moon elves" in the book, and they don't seem to have any obvious lunar connec [...]

Moon Elves came out very early in the d20 boom, and to a degree it shows in its imperfect command of the system. However, it fulfills my requirements for what makes a good d20 supplement, so I'm going to give it high marks. First of all, there [...]

I purchase this on sale, and for the price, it was a great buy. I like elves a lot, and this book delievered on the subject. A good mix of fluff and crunch makes it an enjoyable read. While I am not the kind of GM that likes to uber-detail, the ideas [...]

Okay product, I found the prestige classes will be easy to implement than some of the other rules. The magic items and spell would need some work to incorporate a campaign, but definately present some neat ideas. [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
