In 2007 Ahmed A. Khan co-edited an anthology titled "A Mosque Among the Stars" which was intended to introduce Islamic SF as a recognized sub-genre of speculative fiction. The anthology achieved its objective and was received quite well. Ahmed then wrote an essay wherein he put into words the criteria that would classify a story as Islamic SF.
