Book of Lairs

This thing is perfect for populating a sandbox game. Print out a map and its key 2 images to a page, and place the lairs all over your overland map.

The Book of Lairs: Urban Encounters
by Greg F. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 12/13/2016 05:12:21

This book is excellent. It's exactly what I needed for my currently urban (Bard's Gate) focused campaign. 25 two-page lairs including brief hooks, maps, short room descriptions and monster stats.

Extremely usable. I play with Swords & Wizardry (OD&D) rather than ACKS and the stats are pretty much identical. It'll work perfectly with Labyrinth Lord, BFRPG, AD&D, whatever. OSR stats really are interchangeable so don't let the fact that it says ACKS put you off.

I'd happily buy a 2nd release in a line of Urban Encounters.

Book of Lairs
by Matthew S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/02/2016 17:01:49

This is a fantastic book, especially for overworked GMs! It helps create overland monster lairs, with treasure and even some adventure hooks already written up.

I'm using the Ankheg one on my players tonight and it's been a lot of fun.

My only quibble is that the maps don't have a scale. But otherwise its a great, useful product!

Matthew, I purposely didn't add a scale so that people could make it whatever size they wanted. However, when I drew the maps, it was generally at a scale of approx. 1mm = 1 foot, or thereabouts. Double for large maps. The maps are all more or less the size I drew them, so that scale should work fine for them.
