The World of Bloodshadows was originally published in 1994 by West End Games, re-published in 2004 for D6, and now available again from Precis Intermedia.

In Bloodshadows, the mechanics of fantasy have been wedded to the sensibilities of film noir. The world is as black as your morning coffee, as white as the Undead bartender, and as gray as a moonlit alleyway. A war between Chaos and Order ripped through the land of Marl centuries ago, wiping out some species, creating new ones, and introducing magic. Soon, the development of technology slowed as the pursuit of magic rose. Now everybody knows what sorcery is, and most everyone knows a spell or two. Doors are warded with magical seals, light is provided by glowstones, the waitress in the local diner can warm your cup of joe in the palm of her hand, and the police have forensic mages who help solve crimes.

If the idea of playing a wisecracking, trenchcoat-wearing werewolf who talks like Bogart and can light his cigarette with his fingertip appeals to you, grab your fedora and enter the world of Bloodshadows.

This worldbook for the OpenD6 system features:

  • The history of Marl and the Godwar, plus a description of one of its cities, complete with maps, locations, and significant people
  • Over a dozen non-Human packages, including half-breeds, shapeshifters, Undead, and demons
  • More than 60 spells, plus more options for the OpenD6 Magic system, including schools of magic and a new Special Ability
  • A plethora of magical potions and equipment
  • Six character templates
  • Information on designing fantasy noir adventures
  • Sample mini-adventure
  • D6 Adventure core rules included with download, so no additional books are required to play

Based on material originally printed in the World of Bloodshadows™, Galitia Citybook™, Mean Streets™ campaign pack, and Sorcerer’s Cribsheet™, revised and expanded for the OpenD6 System. Contains mild adult language and situations.

PURCHASER
I bought the Bloodshadows D6 a few years ago. Is this the same book with a different name, or is there additional material? No point in buying a book I already have. Even for Bloodshadows.

PUBLISHER
It's the same book, save for an extra scenario that was previously separate, I believe.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
