After A New Hope, this ebook follows A Troop, 2/4 to the planet of Kearse, where alongside the Texian Airborne Legion, hunts General Malik through the war-torn streets of Caric. This is based off of the 1993 intervention in Somalia and parallels the failures and the successes that was encountered during that time period through a future look in David Drake's Hammer's Slammers universe.

After the unsuccessful attempt of the unit and the Texians to capture General Malik, the unit is eventually deployed to Talis, a forested planet where a republic has broken away from the main planetary government. Hired to support the Golden Eagles, a crack tank mercenary regiment, the unit heads to the planet in a more "conventional" tank setting rather than a couner-insurgency one.
