Delta Green: Dark Theatres presents eight new stories of intrigue and horror, eight theaters in which desperate actors engage clandestine passion plays for the grim amusement of alien gods, Witness the horrors of the Raids on Innsmouth the terrible secrets of World War II, the tropical nightmare of Vietnam, the chill vacuum of Yuggoth, the asynchronous folds of space-time, and much more. The usher takes your hand and leads you into the dark. The red curtain rises, A silence falls over the audience. Are you ready?

The show is about to begin.

Born of the federal government's 1928 raid on the degenerate coastal town of Innsmouth, Massachusetts, the covert agency known as Delta Green spent four decades opposing the forces of darkness with honor, but without glory. Stripped of sanction after a disastrous 1969 operation in Cambodia, Delta Green's leaders made a secret pact: to continue their work without authority, without support, and without fear. Delta Green agents slip through the system, manipulating the federal bureaucracy while pushing the darkness back for another day - but often at a shattering personal cost.

This third volume in the Origins Award-winning fiction line for Delta Green includes eight stories of horror and conspiracy. This time, the Cthulhu Mythos tales traverse the twentieth century--a grunt's-eye view of the 1927 Raid on Innsmouth, the terrible work of the Nazi Karotechia in WWII, the crushing miasma of Vietnam, and much more. Edited by Bob Kruger & John Tynes, with cover art by John T. Snyder.

This digital edition includes the PDF, EPUB and MOBI (Kindle) versions of the book.

Extremely disappointed in the MOBI/ePUB files and wish I'd had read Martin B's comments before purchasing. They're just converted PDFs and pages show up on my Kindle Paperwhite as small images that take up 1/4 of the screen making it unreadable.

Delta Green's Delta Green: Dark Theatres is an anthology with the stories within serving as an impromptu history of Delta Green. While I did not find a bad story in this collection the lead story "Once More, From The Top..." by A. Scott Glancy is a cracking good story that sets the tone and feel of what Delta Green is but also is the perfect tie-in with H.P. Lovecraft's novella "The Shadow over Innsmouth".

Whether you are a fan of the Delta Green RPG (and you ought to be) or weird fiction Delta Green: Dark Theatres holds treasures and nightmares aplenty.

So take your seat the show is about to start. Shut off your phones. Sit quietly. Keep your eyes forward, don't look about, and no matter what happens do not attract the attention of the Usher...

The recent adding of ePub and Mobi format is great. Except... it just appears to be a direct conversion of the PDF - the ePub is 267MB in size and the Mobi is 74MB in size. The PDF is 94MB, as a point of reference.

The ePub and Mobi formats are way, way, too big to be used on my eReader. And even if I could, the pages are just images - I can't change the size or spacing of the font. These additional files, whereas they may be in the ePub and Mobit formats, make no use of those formats.

An ePub (or Mobi) file should be significantly smaller than its equivalent PDF, it shouldn't just contain graphics of each page - it should contain the text from those images, not the scanned images of each page, allowing the user to read the text in a format comfortable to them and their device.

I know the format for this product is shown as "scanned image", but the base PDF has OCR carried out on the text, so it shouldn't be a big step to create properly sized and functional...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
